Planning curriculum is tough. How do you ensure each grade level is getting a well-rounded experience? Do you do similar lessons at each grade level or change them up? Does every grade level get to weave or do clay each year? These are all great questions!
In addition to the Planning Matrix that you can use to plan out your yearlong curriculum, there is another matrix that may help you plan for a more well-rounded curriculum for the upcoming school year – The Media Planning Matrix.
This document will help ensure that all of your students experience a good range of media throughout the year. After all, failure to plan is planning to fail, my friends!
The above matrix isn’t fancy, but it does show some ideas for ensuring each grade level gets a variety of media experiences. Click on the image above to download the Matrix in Word for yourself and modify as you like. I hope it helps!
Does anyone have any other methods they might use to ensure a well-rounded curriculum?
What else would you add to this matrix? Art Criticism? Museum Exposure?</p
