Creating an Art Alphabet

Are you looking for an inexpensive way to integrate vocabulary and jazz up your art room? Try creating an art alphabet! Not only does an alphabet help students make connections throughout the year, they also love seeing your artwork, something YOU created! You could easily design each page digitally, print off blank pages to design freehand or let your students design their own classroom set. I mounted each page on a colored 9 x 12 piece of construction paper and had each letter laminated.

This set was created during my very first year of teaching (You remember, when you are trying to make every dollar count.) Oh, wait a minute, I still feel that way!

Feel free to download, design and print your own copies of the Blank Art Alphabet in PDF version or Word.

Be sure to check out Amanda’s article on Creating a Welcoming Art room for more ideas.

What are other ways you’ve incorporated a “Word Wall” to enhance vocabulary?

Any other literacy connections you’ve used in the art room?
