Today we are proud to announce a exciting new addition to our popular line-up of hands-on Studio Classes:
Introducing… Studio: Painting – Tempera & Acrylic!
This course allows art teachers to revitalize their inner artist through painting and earn Graduate Credit or Professional Development contact hours! First run date: June 1st, 2016.
This course is a unique opportunity to explore new ways to use traditional media found in almost every art room: tempera and acrylic paint. Participants will investigate a broad collection of painting techniques, get excited about color theory, and learn tips and tricks for the organization and management of paint in the art room – including clean up!
This course provides the opportunity to learn and grow as an artist and as an art teacher. Class resources are second to none and provide details on new methods, fresh lesson ideas, and planning documents to take back to the classroom as you integrate your learning. Plus, you get to paint for artistic pleasure, or for classroom connections, guided by leaders in art education and alongside art professionals from all over the world!
Tempera and acrylic are versatile art supplies with endless possibilities in the art room, but they also provoke a host of questions: What product will produce the best results? How do I manage the mess? How can I take specific techniques and turn them into successful art experiences for my students?
This course addresses all of these questions and more as you explore best practices in both tempera and acrylic painting for the classroom. Topics include brush selection, storage and organization, as well as color theory, mixing mediums, and advanced techniques. This is a painting class designed just for art teachers.
Whether you are teaching advanced painting at the high school level or are looking for a more successful approach to tempera at the elementary level, there will be something new to learn in this class. Best of all, you will become a painting expert yourself. You will have the time and the opportunity to try new techniques firsthand as you create a teacher showcase series and final portfolio.
You can enroll in this class today to earn 3 Graduate Credits or 120 PD contact hours! Studio Classes are spread out over an 8-week period with ample time to dive deeply into the media. This course debuts June 1st, just in time for summer. It will also run in July and August.
