Heather Gage-West

Adjunct Instructor

Hello everyone! I actually was looking for some interesting continuing education courses, and lo and behold, I ran across the Art of Education University and thought, “Wow, they have some amazing courses!” I have been a visual artist and arts educator for over 20 years and have taught in all types of environments, including public K–12, both traditional and online, as well as at the college level and within urban community programs. I hold my MFA in Fine Arts and am certified in visual arts K–12 in Massachusetts. Much of my experience encompasses developing and implementing therapeutic programs, and my focus for the past few years has been creating a trauma-informed art classroom. I am passionate about nurturing a safe, creative, and engaging learning environment. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students of different ages and backgrounds, including urban, special education, and at-risk students.

When I’m not teaching, you will find me devoting time to my side passion, my business I opened in the Creative Healing Arts where I offer Intuitive Painting Therapy along with Healing Modalities such as Reiki for both adults and children. And when I’m not working or making art, you will most likely see me fishing or competing in and judging Muay Thai!
