About the Author

Jacqueline Gallo

I’m Jacqueline Gelfuso Gallo, and I live on the East End of Long Island. I have earned a BFA and MFA, both with a concentration in drawing and painting. A native New Englander, I relocated to Long Island in the summer of 2006, after completing my master’s at the Hartford Art School. Combined, I have 15 years of experience as a professor of fine arts and in K-12 art education.

As an educator in the arts, I feel it is essential to guide all students to develop and deepen their critical sense of the arts as it relates to everyday life. I find my motivation in my students and the changes I witness in their confidence and abilities. I truly enjoy getting to know my students and the fact that I learn along with them.

Currently, I teach high school art full time in addition to working in my home studio on large-scale paintings and drawings. I have exhibited my two-dimensional work in New England, New York, and Italy. My jewelry has been featured in craft magazines and within local craft galleries. I have also completed my second master’s degree in art education. When I’m not in my studio, I love spending time with my husband and two kitties, practicing guitar, and kayaking in Vermont (my happy place). You can almost always find me in the forest on a trail and spending time with my family in New England.
