What is the difference between graduation and commencement? Commencement is the ceremony to celebrate your graduation, which is the completion of all degree requirements. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not guarantee graduation, and students who graduate are not required to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Do I need to apply to graduate?
No. The Registrar will conduct a graduation audit within 10 days of completing all degree requirements. Upon confirming that you have completed all university requirements, your degree from The Art of Education University will be conferred. 

Do I need a cap/gown?
You do not need a cap and gown for commencement, but you can order regalia and spirit wear to celebrate your graduation in style from these two websites:

Can my family and friends attend?
Yes! You may invite as many guests as you’d like. Share the link so your guests can attend virtually or host a graduation party at your home. 

Will I need to turn on my camera?
Commencement is a live event and you are welcome to turn on your camera (but please mute your microphone!). Or keep your camera off and enjoy the celebration. After the ceremony, you can turn on the camera and microphone to congratulate classmates, chat with faculty, and celebrate with your cohort.

When are diplomas mailed?
Your diploma is filled by a third party, Parchment. It should be mailed within 8-10 weeks weeks of your degree conferral. 

How do I correct an error on my diploma?
To report and correct any errors on your diploma, please contact the registrar at registrar@theartofeducation.edu.

What if I can’t attend this commencement ceremony?
That’s ok! We will record the ceremony and share the video with you via email so you can watch it on your own time or share it with friends and family.

Even though I am not participating in commencement, will my name still be in the program?
The program lists all alumni who graduate within one month prior to the commencement ceremony. If you received confirmation of your graduation audit, your name will appear in the commencement program regardless of participation.

How do I make arrangements for people with disabilities?
All prerecorded videos will have closed captions. The final video, when shared via email, will be closed-captioned in full. Please contact help@theartofeducation.edu to request or arrange any other necessary accommodations.

Can I view the ceremony afterward?
You will receive a link to view the ceremony 2–4 weeks after commencement.
