Art educators across the world are currently coping with the larger implications of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its community-wide spread in their own school districts. AOEU is here to help, and we will get through this together. This too shall pass.
How do I prepare for teaching online classes? What resources should I send my students? What PD makes the most sense when I’m at home?
AOEU’s mission is to “grow amazing art teachers… at every stage of their career.” Needless to say, this is a particularly difficult stage of every art teacher’s career. As such, AOEU is providing this page as a central hub for art educators to answer these questions and curate relevant ideas and opportunities to help you optimize your resources during this time.
In this course, participants will learn to teach art as 21st-century digital citizens by developing deep understandings of current and emerging technologies, designing playful and interactive curricula for blended classrooms, and pioneering learning experiences in exploratory environments. They will learn how to use technology in the art classroom, including best practices for online instruction delivery, increased engagement through technology, methods to reach struggling students and connect with parents, tactics to address the technology gap, and more. Participants will leave this course with a toolkit of high-level strategies, insights, and action plans for teaching art in the 21st-century classroom.
AOEU has been receiving emails and calls from school districts around the country that want to quickly adopt online K-12 art curriculum and professional development solutions in their district to support art teachers working from home.
AOEU has taken steps to dramatically speed up the process to help school districts get PRO and FLEX into the hands of their art teachers as quickly as possible.
