Adapting the Art Room

Shape your art room to support all learners through inclusive strategies, educational accommodations, and modified curriculum and assessment.

According to the National Center for Education, 14% of students enrolled in public education have a disability. With the right adaptations and accommodations, teachers can shape their art room to meet a wide range of student needs, where all can benefit and feel welcome. In this course, participants will explore inclusive strategies for adapting art room tools and materials, providing essential educational accommodations, and modifying curriculum and assessment to meet the needs of all learners. Throughout their journey, participants will also learn to harness the power of a village by developing approaches to build working relationships with special education and support staff that allow students with learning barriers to find their visual voice.

See the course syllabus and Graduate Catalog for more details.
