Meaningful professional development involves opportunities for teachers to reflect critically on their practice, question their beliefs about teaching and learning, and bring new ideas and practices into the classroom (Darling-Hammond & McLaughlin, 1995, as cited in, Lind, 2007, p. 2). In this self-directed, three-week course, participants will attend FAEA’s 2024 Annual Conference with a focus on self-examination of classroom practice and teaching philosophy. Participants will reflect on their experience by applying learning in their professional practice and through personal reflection.  

Step 1: Make sure you are registered for the 2024 FAEA Conference.

Step 2: Register for the 1-credit course FAEA: Current Topics in Art Education. Upon registering, download the Course Guide. This will have everything you need to be successful in the course while you are attending the 2024 FAEA Conference.

Required Materials

2024 FAEA Annual Conference, Ignite Imagination: Reveal the Fantastical [October 17-20, 2024](attendance required)

Additional Materials

  • Computer with basic audio and video input and output equipment
  • Internet access (broadband recommended)
  • Basic computing skills (see AOEU’s Technology Requirements)
  • Access to AOEU’s online learning platform, Brightspace, to view course content, submit assignments, and engage in discussion (provided)
  • A Google Drive account (provided)
  • Word-processing platform (Microsoft Office, Pages, Google Docs)
