Lesson Plan

Description

Students will explore the components of a landscape by creating their own ceramic landscape. They will demonstrate their understanding of basic ceramics methods and utilize the Mishima technique of inlaying glaze in textured areas of their artwork.

Students will plan and include landscape components in their ceramic design.

Students will learn about the Mishima technique and apply it to their ceramic landscape.

Students will use line and texture to differentiate spaces in their art.

Teaching Strategies

  • Facilitate a discussion on the components of landscapes in art.
  • Guide students in planning and sketching their landscape, considering seasons and different environments.
  • Facilitate the preparation and organization of materials from start to finish.
  • Demonstrate ceramics methods.
  • Discuss and teach the Mishima technique
