Description

Students will explore an ancient Asian structure by creating a modernized stab binding book using a cereal box as a recycled cover. They will consider how art and aesthetics are influenced by the time and culture in which they were created.

  • Cereal box cut to 8.5 x 11”
  • X-ACTO knives & cutting mats
  • Hole punchers (Japanese push drill preferred)
  • Needles, linen thread, & beeswax
  • Scissors
  • Pencils
  • Bone folders

Steps

Prepare Text Block & Cover

Gather paper and covers. Use template to mark sewing stations. Punch 4 sewing stations in 2-3 sheets at a time. Secure with binder clips and/or weight.
