Freestanding Tree Sculptures

Lesson Plan

Description

Students will learn how to create a freestanding sculpture using a lunch bag, and employ their mathematical measuring skills to create branches. They will manipulate the paper and transform it into a tree form. Blossoms and foliage will be added to showcase a season of the year.

Discuss Everyday Objects in Art and Measure Line

Discuss the use of common objects in art. Measure and draw a horizontal line four inches down from the opening on two sides of the folded bag. Extend the line on the sides of the bag that are folded in.
