Description

Students will repurpose an old container to create a mixed media collage box in the style of Joseph Cornell. They will create mixed media collages that depict memories from home, school, or community life.

Students will investigate the mixed media assemblage artwork of Joseph Cornell.

Students will experiment with a variety of mixed media approaches.

Students will repurpose a container to create a three-dimensional mixed media box inspired by Joseph Cornell.

Students will visually depict a personal memory, from home, school, or community life.

Students will explore and utilize materials and processes such as found objects, drawings, and collages.

  • Paintbrushes & acrylic paint in assorted colors
  • Collage materials (magazines, colored construction paper)
  • Pencil & eraser
  • Black marker

  • Glue

Brainstorm a Memory & Gather Materials

Brainstorm and select a personal memory from school, home, or community life. (For example, a trip to the beach or the first days of school.) Find a small container to repurpose. Any box with negative space will work.
