Description
Students will collaboratively define “aesthetic living” and research an artist using aesthetics as part of a community transformation project. Students will examine how aesthetics bring joy to their own lives. Students will record, research, and express emotions through drawing.

Students will define “aesthetic” and collaboratively reach a consensus around the meaning of “aesthetic living.”
Students will research the work of an artist who works with communities.
Students will notice and record the aesthetic aspects of the artist’s work and consider their impact on the community.
Teaching Strategies
- Guide students in defining “aesthetic” and collaboratively reaching a consensus around the meaning of “aesthetic living.”
- Assist students with locating information about the selected artists’ community projects.
- Facilitate discussions of aesthetic living and artists’ contributions to transforming communities.
- Facilitate partnering students with peers who selected different artists.
