Description

Students will be introduced to artists who bring attention to people who are normally not represented in traditional portraiture. Students will use the techniques of collage to create a portrait honoring someone who is important to them.

Introduction

Examine artist bios. Brainstorm who will be depicted (could be a self-portrait). Reflect on what elements to include in the portrait. Discuss practices, issues, and ethics of appropriation, fair use, copyright, open-source, and Creative Commons in selecting an image to use.
