Description

Students will create a two-layered collage with symbols, colors, shapes, and text depicting their public and personal identities. One layer contains images reflecting their public identities, and one layer represents images reflecting personal identities.

Introduce the idea of metaphors in art and how layers in this project represent what is revealed and what is hidden in life.
Facilitate a brainstorming discussion of personal and public identities.
Demonstrate selecting and cutting out images from magazines.
Demonstrate arranging and gluing materials to the transparency overlay and cardboard layer of the work.
