Local Architecture Collages

Lesson Plan

Description

Students will explore architecture by taking photographs of various unique establishments within their neighborhood. They will sketch and/or paint several of the images to collage with photographs and photo transfers, showcasing their unique community.

Students will discuss local architecture, specifically buildings that are unique to their community.

Students will take photos of local architecture.

Students will journal their photography experiences and reflect on their choices.

Students will combine sketches and/or painted images with photographs and photo transfers.

  • Demonstrate the photo transfer process.
  • Explain the collaging process.
  • Facilitate a discussion about local architecture and its impact on the community.
  • Encourage students to explore and experiment with materials and compositions.
