Lesson Plan

Description

Students will observe, analyze, and discuss nests in nature. Students will research basket weaving techniques. Students will set mindful intentions and create personally meaningful nests to hold symbolic clay objects by experimenting with fibers, wire, and natural materials.

  • Assist students in describing their personal aesthetic and empathetic responses to the natural world and their art.

  • Drawing paper and media of choice (pencils, pens, markers)
  • Books/websites
  • Needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, sewing needles
  • Scissors
  • Fibers (natural and synthetic) and wires
  • Papers (patterned, colored, newspapers, books, magazines)
  • Clay and paint or glaze
  • Natural materials (twigs, leaves, grasses, feathers, fur)
