Description

Students will choose a song and explore ways to represent the rhythm, lyrics, and meaning by creating a collage. Students will select from a range of paper and digital materials. Students will document and reflect on the process and plan revisions for their collage.

Steps

Identify the Rhythm

Discuss visual and musical rhythm. Choose a song with personal meaning. Listen to the selected song and identify elements of the musical rhythm (beat, tempo, etc.). Sketch ideas for using pattern and repetition to create a visual rhythm that represents the auditory rhythm.
