Description

Students will learn about the Jōmon period in ancient Japan. They will discover how the artists of this time period used the coil technique to construct pottery pieces and create their own detailed, coiled vessels.

Steps

Create a Base

Choose a basic shape to use as the base of the vessel. Create a template with the tagboard and cut it out. Roll out a ¼” - ½” slab of clay and use the template to cut out the shape.
