Lesson Plan

Description

Students will research cultures that utilize pictographs within their art and create a symmetrical watercolor wax resist animal drawing. They will create emphasis on the animal’s simplified body shape, enhancing with designs, patterns, and symbols that tell a story.

Research Cultures

Research cultures that utilize pictographs. Select an animal to represent. Write a story about the animal, noting ways to symbolically represent themes and ideas. Create or select common pictograph symbols to use for artwork or use line and shape to design a personal symbol.
