Description

Students will research how pop icons impact culture, traditions, and history and influence personal responses to art. Students will create a collage using a photograph of a pop culture icon, various papers, lines, and bold shapes.

Students will select and print a photo of a pop culture icon.

Students will use multiple approaches to create a pop art collage.

Teaching Strategies

  • Facilitate a discussion around pop art and how pop culture icons impact culture, traditions, and history and influence personal responses to art.
  • Demonstrate collage techniques using a variety of papers using Andy Warhol’s compositions of Mick Jagger as an example.
  • Allow students to create pop art portraits using their own chosen pop culture icon.
