Students will document their gelatin printing plate monotyping experimentation and explore additional stencil techniques to inform the design and creation of a portrait series. Students will participate in a class critique as they curate a selection of prints to share.
Demonstrate and discuss the monotyping process.
Roll ink onto a gel plate.
Experiment with various media, color choices, and textures.
Center the copy paper on the plate.
Print by hand using a baren.
Make ghost prints.
Document and label the experimentation in a sketchbook.
