Lesson Plan

Description

Students will explore, research, and reflect on the theme of community by designing symbols of their own, inspired by the communities where they live. They will combine their symbolic designs to create an installation of community flags, inspired by batik fabric flags.

Brainstorm and Sketch

Brainstorm and/or research symbols of community. Select an existing community symbol or design a new one. Sketch the idea making the shapes large and simplified. Trace the drawing with a permanent marker.
