The Fortune: Evocative Still Life

Description

Using a fortune cookie and a Chinese food takeout box, students will create an individual still life with symbolic correlations to a cookie fortune. Students will use subtractive drawing on a toned surface to support their artistic vision.

  • Ebony pencils and drawing pencils
  • Kneaded and pink erasers
  • Powdered graphite
  • 18” x 24” and “24 x 36” drawing papers
  • Newsprint
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Blending stumps, cotton balls, paper towels
  • Lapboards or standing easels
  • Optional: colored media for spot use
  • Hot glue and glue gun
