Lesson Plan

Description

Students will use composition and comprehension skills to develop a proposal for a novel. Students will create their book using clay slabs and clay relief techniques and finish using cold finish techniques.

  • Pencil & sketch paper
  • Diluted black acrylic paint
  • Sponge & rolling pins
  • ¼” sticks
  • Clear plastic bags
  • 9” x 12” boards or thick cardboard
  • Spray Acrylic Sealer (for teacher use only)

Plan and Gather Materials

Use the Imaginary Novel Planning Worksheet to develop ideas for the book. Begin with roughly 1 pound of clay formed into a rectangular shape roughly 2” to 3” thick.
