Face Jugs, or as they are fondly referred to in my art room “Ugly Jugs,” are a student favorite. Students apply their knowledge of coiling and proper attachment methods while being creative with “ugly” facial features. It’s fun to flip the negative connotations of the word “ugly.” The biggest compliment a student can receive is, “Man, that’s one ugly jug!” Every student is motivated to construct something wonderful and to push through the challenges of hand-building.
