This lesson makes a fantastic introduction to basic clay terms and techniques for your youngest students. It’s also a great way to introduce the concept of three-dimensional work if students create self-portrait drawings first. In addition, you can discuss a wide variety of well-known artists’ self-portraits as inspiration. Students will be having so much fun creating their faces that they won’t even realize they’re building important foundation skills!
