This lesson is a winner for many reasons. First of all, the lesson is perfect for differentiation. Challenge older or more skilled students to create larger series. Help your slower or meticulous students meet the project deadline by asking them to keep the background plain. Adapt for special learners by having them trace their contour lines from a photo. The possibilities are endless. Another winning thing about this lesson is that it’s extremely motivating because of the subject matter, the students own pets! If students don’t have, or have never had a pet, they can choose to work with a favorite animal. Finally, displayed together, these paintings make a truly spectacular hallway display but are also wonderful on their own when given as gifts. What’s not to love?!
