There are many versions of this lesson plan out there, and with good reason. Klimt’s Tree of Life is such a wonderful inspiration piece for students. This version uses metallic tempera paint, oil pastels, and sequins. Build in more choice by allowing students to choose their paper and paint colors and what kinds of symbols they want to add to their trees. For extra flair, provide sequins or gems as optional forms of embellishment.
The special materials make this project extra fun while teaching concepts like the importance of craftsmanship, how to select the correct brush for the job, and how much embellishment is enough.
