Beth Bell, Ph.D.
Adjunct Instructor
I am Dr. Beth Bell and I have taught high school fashion and interior design courses for the past 21 years. I originally received my BS degree in Clothing and Textiles and became a costume shop manager and costume designer for the next 15 years. I started teaching high school students about design when I realized I really wanted to share my knowledge with others! I live in Mebane, North Carolina and am fortunate to teach at a high school only a few miles from my home. After I started teaching high school, I went back to college and received my MAT in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and my PhD in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies. I love the kids that I teach and teaching them how to be creative is the best experience I could have. Watching them create things and seeing their excitement is amazing. Over the last 10 years, I have also enjoyed creating curriculum for educational organizations in the areas of fashion and interior design. I want to help make sure that artists and designers who are learning about these areas are getting the best content possible.
Outside of school, I love to spend time with my dogs and garden. I kayak and ride a bike to get into nature as much as possible. I love to design gowns and make wedding dresses and prom dresses but only do it now for those close to me. It is hard work! During the summers I usually find some use for fabric dye and embroidery and start projects I may or may not finish.
I look forward to working with everyone at The Art of Education University!
