Andres Ortega, MFA
Adjunct Instructor
I learned about AOEU during my career teaching visual arts. I discovered AOEU after searching for art education resources online and, more than once, found myself reading articles from the AOEU website. This year, I was blessed to discover an opportunity to teach at AOEU. Not knowing what to expect, I immediately applied and completed all the hiring requirements. After meeting with Wynita and Theresa and learning more about the AOEU community, I knew this was the place for me. I was in Brooklyn with my wife the day I received the news about joining the AOEU team. I was the happiest art teacher in DUMBO that day. Opportunities like this do not come very often, and I am very grateful and excited to be part of the AOEU community. I look forward to contributing my best efforts in any way possible.
I am a husband, a father, an artist, and an educator. These are the richest elements of my life, and they energize my journey every day as a lifelong learner. I was born and raised in New York City, and I have been teaching visual arts for over ten years. Besides teaching art, I also love to make art, and I apply what I learn in my practice to my teaching. Art has been shaping my life ever since I could hold a pencil, and I will continue holding on to it for as long as I can.
