Adjunct Instructor

Hello, I am thrilled to be an instructor of AOEU and come to you from the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC. My background is varied, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with students. In the past, I have taught in public schools, museums, and higher education. Specifically, I was a K-6 art teacher for almost nine years, as well as a museum educator for a similar breadth of time. I hold a PhD and MA in Art Education from the University of North Texas, along with a Bachelor’s from Texas State in Art History. Over the years, I have become certified in K-12 art, 4-8 Language Arts, and Special Education through the state of Texas. These extra certifications have served me well as I consider how to adjust my instruction for individuals with various needs, and think about any interdisciplinary crossovers in curriculum and instruction. Other details about me include that I am a mom of three young humans, and we have three cats, one dog, and a toad named Tator Todd. We enjoy life as a family and even make art together from time to time! I do have an active artmaking practice, so if we meet on Zoom, you might catch a glimpse of in-process work in the background!
