Events & Experiences Manager
My career in events began in a photo lab where I progressed from hiding in the dark developing film (yes, actual film), to the reception desk educating the general public on concepts such as aspect ratios, to running exhibits at photography tradeshows. Tradeshows were not only a refreshing break from the darkness reeking of developing chemicals, they were eye-opening access to talented communities of creative professionals. I loved the role our little photo lab played in supporting these artists, and I also loved the physical transformation of a generic space into something unique.
I transitioned to the software world by way of a small EdTech firm, where I was able to grow both personally and professionally as we went from a 30-person startup with a singular mission to a 2,000-person corporation addressing diverse needs within the education ecosystem. I am excited to be at AOEU now because my role in events puts me back in direct contact with dedicated, creative people, both within our institution and in the broader arts education community. I show up every day excited to help support educators and provide rewarding experiences for anyone who chooses to spend their time with us.
