Anne-Marie Slinkman

Hello! My name is Anne-Marie Slinkman, and I teach elementary art in a suburban district in Virginia. I have been teaching kindergarten through 5th-grade art for 16 years and have taught in a variety of different situations and school settings. I received my BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and my M.A.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. I also achieved my National Board Certification in 2012.

In my classroom, I focus on providing my students with a breadth of art making and learning experiences that help them to construct meaning and find inspiration from the world around them. When I am not teaching, I am usually on a trip exploring the world with my husband, creating art, hiking, or hanging out with my two dogs. I am thrilled to be on the AOE writing team!
