About the Author

Ishel Brimhall

I found AOEU years ago as a brand new art teacher, excited and nervous to start my journey. I learned so much great information that helped me get through that first year. I am now in my fifth year as a full-time elementary art educator. I have enjoyed teaching art classes to students from Kindergarten all the way up to the college level. I earned my Bachelor’s in Art Education from Brigham Young University and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Fine Arts Teaching from the University of Utah. I am passionate about choice-based art lessons, culturally responsive pedagogy and inclusive practices in the art room. When I’m not teaching in my art room, you’ll find me traveling to new countries, plein air painting at the park, or working in my flower garden. I enjoy interacting with teachers and I am looking forward to sharing my passion for art education at AOEU.

Education:
