About the Author

Jennie Drummond

My name is Jennie Drummond. I currently teach all levels of drawing and painting, as well as yearbook, at a public high school in California’s Bay Area. I learned about AOEU as a first-year art teacher while looking for relevant professional development, and was immediately hooked by how ridiculously relevant the content was!

My mission as a teacher is to create a space where students are unabashedly creative and empowered, confident in making mistakes, and constantly striving to improve. I facilitate an environment where students collaborate easily, help one another succeed, and celebrate, above all, the value of diversity, individuality, and community.

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually experimenting with all types of drawing media, crocheting my newest article of clothing, or at an A’s game or country concert with my service dog, Shadow. I’m excited to be part of the AOEU team and the greater community of art educators!

Professional Accomplishments:

  • MA in Art Education from The Art of Education University (2020)
  • Secondary Teaching Credentials in Art and Social Sciences from Brandman University (2014-Current)
  • BA in Art, Political Science from Chapman University (2013)
