Which Pathway Is Right for You?

Initial Certification in Art

If you hold a bachelor’s degree and are pursuing your first New Jersey teaching certificate, the Certificate of Eligibility pathway may be an option. Candidates must meet all New Jersey Department of Education requirements, which may include completing an approved Certificate of Eligibility Educator Preparation Program (CE EPP).
A Certificate of Eligibility authorizes an individual to seek and accept employment in New Jersey public schools that require certification. Learn more about New Jersey’s initial certification pathways.
New Jersey requires a minimum of 30 semester-hour credits in art, including coursework in:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpture and ceramics
- Additional art subject matter
