Craft Your Perfect PD Plan With This Helpful Tool

Making the decision to start something can be the most difficult step in any new process. Once the decision is made, the next step usually becomes clear. Having options is a great thing, but too many options can cloud good decision making.

Many teachers stumble upon the AOE Courses page, see the 20+ course offerings, and start to feel overwhelmed. This is especially true when they plan on taking multiple courses for renewal or a Master’s +15 in a short amount of time.

“Where should I start?” you might ask. “Are there courses you recommended if I am struggling with X?” There are a million different combinations, and our course counselors are happy to walk you through all of the potential options.

Today, we’ve created an additional PD planning tool to help you navigate the world of art ed through a new lens.

Class flow chart

In this chart, the courses are broken down according to the topics you are interested in, along with some suggested orders. Of course, you can enjoy the courses in any way you choose, in any order, for both graduate credit or no-credit (hours) depending on your needs.

The Core Courses, as you will see, aren’t prerequisites but are foundational courses that we recommend you take if you want to refine an area of your teaching before diving deeper. Take all four foundational courses in order and you are sure to become an art ed master in no time!

You can also mix and match classes to suit your unique needs. For example, maybe you’re interested in getting your hands dirty with our Studio Courses and then take Assessment in Art Education to create assessments for your hands-on projects. You see – this is fun!

Create your own perfect PD plan for this summer and beyond! If you have questions, our course counselors can make personal recommendations for you. Just give us a call or text at 515.650.3198 or email us at help@theartofed.com. We’re happy to help!
