As an art teacher, your time is a valuable commodity. There is always so much to do, but it never seems like there’s enough time to get it all done! Here at AOE, we’ve been focusing on creating some incredible downloads to help save your precious time. Maybe you’ve seen the Studio Habits posters, Artist Statement Flowchart, or the Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Handouts for Students. Well, today we are bringing you even more amazing resources. However, these stellar samples were not created in-house.That’s right! The amazing resources shared below were created by students in AOE Courses!
Don’t get me wrong, I could easily share 107 samples, but I have narrowed it down to small a selection of truly impressive work that you can download and explore today. Each of the participants listed below has graciously given her consent to share her coursework for the betterment of art education. So, feel free to dive in, giving credit where it is due, of course.
1. In Reaching All Artists Through Differentiation, Katelyn Witman used her graphic design skills to create this creative pre-assessment inspired by the work of Wayne Thiebaud. I am sure students loved choosing two scoops!
2. Also in Reaching All Artists Through Differentiation, Simone Gaiownik, MAAE, used images from findicons.com to create a visually-appealing Choice Board. These icons help students understand and navigate assignment options inspired by Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences.
3. Melissa Chaney used her time in Designing Your Art Curriculum to design a complete High School Foundations of Art class curriculum. She has some wonderful connections to art history and a knack for integrating Studio Habits of Mind.
4. In Assessment in Art Education, Abby Schukei inspired her classmates with a sample visual rubric for 6th graders and a well-designed 6th-Grade Assessment Plan. Visual rubrics with built-in work samples can be a great way to discuss scoring with students and parents.
5. Libby Beaty created a one-of-a-kind High School Art assessment plan in Assessment in Art Education. Her plan includes images as well as assessment tasks.
6. Jean Fitzgerald shared a collaborative mural project for the documentation and exhibition assignment in Choice Based Art Education. If you are considering a school-wide collaboration, check out the details of this installation with mural artist Mirtes Zwierzynski.
AOE’s Online classes offer participants the unique opportunity to work with other art ed professionals in a collaborative environment. Participants leave class with all kinds of samples, fresh ideas to take back to the art room, and a whole network of art teachers from across the globe.
