Maybe it’s just me, but these days I find that I’m a little bored with PowerPoint. I imagine if I am feeling this way, then my students probably are too. It’s hard to present information in a way that keeps students engaged and learning. Luckily, there are plenty of solutions out there if you are looking for a way to make your presentations and lesson information shine. One of those solutions is a platform called Visme.

What is Visme?

Visme is a new online tool that allows anyone to create engaging presentations and infographics, regardless of graphic design ability. It’s perfect for busy art teachers because there are lots of pre-made templates.

My favorite thing about Visme is how quickly you can make something come together. With drag and drop tools, you can create an infographic or presentation for your class in no time. You have the ability to add links and YouTube videos with the click of a button, which can help pique student interest.

5 Ways to Use Visme in the Art Room

You can use Visme in your classroom in a variety of ways. Here are 5 ideas to get you started.

  1. Redesign Old Presentations
Toss aside the PowerPoints you’ve been using for a decade and make something fresh to capture students’ attention. Embed music and video for a truly captivating presentation.
  2. Graphic Design Project
If InDesign is a bit too advanced for your students, let them try their hand at graphic design using Visme as a starting point. The drag and drop tools are a breeze for students to use.
  3. Create Classroom Management Charts
To create homemade classroom signs with a more polished look, try using Visme’s infographic charts. I used Visme to create this clean-up visual for my students.clean up chart
  4. Teaching Portfolio
If you want to create a teaching portfolio for your next interview, Visme would be a great choice for making graphics.
  5. Advocacy
Do you have to give a presentation or show off statics at your next professional development day? Perhaps you want to make the art department shine in front of an administrator. Use some of the infographic charts on Visme to advocate for the arts!

Getting Started

Getting started with Visme is easy. You can sign up for a free account at any time. The free version has plenty of options to get you started. If you want access to the full range of icons, photos, and templates, they offer special pricing for students and teachers on the premium option.

Don’t let the same old boring PowerPoint get you down. Instead, use those summer months to create more creative tools for your classroom. You’ll feel refreshed and your students will thank you.
