Rachel Balian

Adjunct Instructor

My name is Rachel and I believe that art is the universal language. Everything we do ties back into the arts; this is the lens through which I view the world. I have taught art from Kindergarten to college but have found great joy in helping middle school students find their own visual voice. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Art Education at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, minoring in Fibers. I continued on to receive an MSAE from the college, culminating in a thesis show. I enjoy traveling and have had the opportunity to teach internationally. In addition to exploring and creating art, I have a love of learning and research. In the summer I can be found reading a neuroscience textbook by the water. I care deeply for social advocacy, special populations, and making art accessible to all. I live outside Boston with my musician husband, four children, and maybe someday a dog. We love to laugh, sing, and spend time together outdoors.
