About the Author

Amber Tackett

Amber Tackett has been an art educator at Paul G Blazer High school in Ashland, Kentucky since she began her teaching career. She holds a BA from Georgetown College (2007) with an emphasis in Painting and Art History, a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Art Education (2010), and a PhD in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Education from the University of the Cumberlands (2020).

She has a strong commitment to multicultural education and often utilizes art history to expose her students to art from various cultures and eras. She also began an Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice committee at her school comprised of students, faculty, and community members to help improve the educational experience for all students at Blazer High School. When not working, she enjoys taking her rescue dog, Sadie, on walks, reading, researching, and painting.
