About the Author

Kristie Galante

My name is Kristie Galante, and I am a certified K-12 teacher and artist living on Long Island, New York. I currently teach middle school and high school art in the East Rockaway School District. Before teaching in this position, I taught grades K-8. In addition to full-time teaching, I own an art studio with my mother and sister, who are both art teachers. We always joke that art is our family business. At our studio, we teach artists of all ages through our classes for children, adults, and families alike. It’s a great way to see art in the community.

As for the art room, I have nine years of classroom experience and many years as a practicing and exhibiting artist. I received my undergraduate degree in Art Education from Adelphi University in 2011 and a Master’s of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting from Queens College in 2013. I enjoy teaching learners of all ages and abilities, and I am passionate about the art educator’s ability to inspire critical thinkers with curious minds. In addition to nurturing my student’s skills, I push them to think creatively and to operate outside of their comfort zones. I also strive to create a culture of caring by building positive relationships with my students.
