Studio: Painting–Watercolor

Explore the unique qualities of watercolor as you investigate traditional and alternative watercolor techniques, historical and contemporary watercolor artists, and strategies and tools for implementing watercolor in your classroom and personal practice.

Watercolor is a unique painting medium with transparent and fluid qualities unlike any other. Throughout this course, participants will engage with visual journaling and watercolor exploration processes to develop their understanding of the medium within the context of both their personal art practice and professional teaching practice. Participants will investigate traditional and alternative watercolor techniques, watercolor-specific approaches to color theory and compositional design, historical and contemporary watercolor artists, and strategies and tools for implementing watercolor in their classrooms.
