Technology in the 21st-Century Art Room

Learn to integrate educational technology and inspire meaningful instruction, assessment, and art creation in a 21st-century art classroom.

As the presence of technology has become a classroom expectation, it is vital that tech choices partner with pedagogy to enhance learning in an equitable, and inclusive way. Although accessibility to educational technology is diverse, a recent technology survey shows 90% of secondary and 84% of elementary schools now have a 1:1 student per digital learning device ratio (Edweek Research Center, 2021). In this course, participants will explore trends in educational technology and develop a pedagogy that prepares them to design engaging interactive learning experiences and classroom materials with emerging technologies that inspire instruction, assessment, and art creation in a meaningful and purposeful way. Within that integration, the responsibility of digital citizenship emerges. Participants will leave with a toolkit of high-level classroom materials that integrate technology for the 21st-century art classroom.
